The choice is clear. There is only one choice.

From JohnMcCain.com pick a love song for Obama and the media
Submitted by katieharbath on Tue, 07/22/2008 - 12:44This is a cool idea from the McCain campaign. Put together a video about the media's love affair with Obama. Put two different soundtracks to it and let the people vote. It's pretty darn good. I voted for option one, but both are below. To vote go here: http://www.johnmccain.com/video/love.htm

My 5 year DC anniversary
Submitted by katieharbath on Tue, 07/15/2008 - 08:37Five years ago today Morgan and I packed up our cars, said good bye to our college years and began our jaunt to DC. Neither of us were quite sure what to expect. We had no jobs lined up or an apartment, but everyone told us we had to be in DC to get a job. So we went. And we got lucky. Both of us had jobs within a month of coming here and we found a great place pretty quickly.
It's certainly been a roller coaster of a five years too. Two Presidential campaigns, 3 moves and 6 jobs later here I am. No regrets on the job front. I wouldn't do some of them again for fear of actually going to the looney bin, but they all made me a better person in some way. I mean heck, five years ago there was no YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, etc. Live streaming from my phone, yeah right. Pretty darn exciting if you ask me. I like doing this.
On the personal side of life, there are a few things I wish I would have done differently but overall, I can't ask for better friends than I have here. I don't know what the next five years holds, but if it's anything like the last five, they're bound to be pretty fun.
This Packers/Favre charade needs to stop
Submitted by katieharbath on Tue, 07/15/2008 - 08:19So Brett speaks out and what's his message? The Packers are lying, they really don't want him back. A few things here Brett:
1) Stop acting like a teenager who wants to take dad's new convertible out for a joy ride but instead is told you can just take the truck.
2) When you say the Packers don't want you back you're not just directing that at the "team" proper. You're lumping in all the fans who have stood by you for years and years. Sometimes we thought you should retire, but we welcomed you back with open arms. Last year was wonderful. Why in the world are you ruining all of that goodwill now?
3) Come back, play, help Rogers out or move on. It's that simple. Grow up. You're the only one who will lose out of this deal if you keep acting like this. It won't be the Packers.
Update: Yeah this thing is going to get me worked up all day as I keep watching Fox tease the second part of the interview tonight. So you all will just have to bear with me.
Round 2: Green Bay Packers
Submitted by katieharbath on Sun, 07/13/2008 - 09:51The thought of Brett Favre as a back up never even occurred to me so this move by the Packers came as a bit of a surprise to me, but I love it. It's the perfect response by them. Don't release Favre, but tell him his starter spot isn't guaranteed. (though come on, we all know that Favre will probably beat Rogers out during training) It also keeps him out of a Vikings or Bears jersey, which if happened would mean hell had frozen over.
This is probably the best this situation could play out. I sometimes thought the best way for Favre to go out would be to tell the team he wants to help them transition to a new phase and say he'll be playing less. If it came from Favre, the fans wouldn't be so angry. Now with Favre pulling this I'm retired, I'm not retired brouhaha, he took care of that possibility.
It's time for Favre to be done with this game. Play your cards. Talk publicly to your fans and stop letting everyone else do it. Come back, maybe start, or stay retired.
This makes me sad

Let Our Congress Tweet
Submitted by katieharbath on Wed, 07/09/2008 - 20:00This was just bound to happen eventually. After yesterday's disasterous proposals by dems on the House Admin committee the Sunlight Foundation has launched a site LetOurCongressTweet.org to get folks to encourage Congress to change their rules and let members like John Culberson Twitter and be on YouTube and Facebook and all of that. You can follow them on Twitter at loct08.
Update: David Almacy's got a the background on the name Twitter and gave me the heads up about this John Culberson mobile stream via qik his Fox News interview. I'm such a geek, but this is so cool that he can do this. House Admin has no idea the can of worms they've opened.
