Sunset in the duck blind

Today was our last hunt with the good folks at Popa Duck Lodge here in Arkansas. Wake up call again was at 4:30 am and we were on the boats headed for the lake by 5:45am. Arkansas is so flooded right now that most of the roads have 15 feet of water over them so everything was by boat.

Didn’t see as many ducks this morning as we did yesterday – was too cloudy. But we did get 13 this morning and then headed out this afternoon to the rice fields to see if we couldn’t conjure up some more. Where as in the wild life refuge we are in boats hunting, in the rice fields we’re in a blind dug into the ground so we’re eye level with the ground and covered so the birds don’t see us. We ended up getting two geese and four ducks out of the group. I’m claiming on of the geese as mine because I was aiming at it when I shot. :)

For today’s picture here’s a view of the sunset from the blind. Learned that time trusted lesson as a photographer today when my battery died right as sunset was about over and the light was amazing. Could have kicked myself – but I still got some good shots.

  1. Beautiful photo! I’m glad your battery lasted long enough to take this shot.
