It was only two short years ago when I was sitting in a New York bar, Packers shirt on, cheesehead on my head watching the Packers take on the Giants for the NFC Championship. Favre had just had an amazing year, crushing numerous records (one of which was during a game against the Vikings) and then it fell apart. Interception thrown, game goes into over time, Giants win. It was heartbreaking. I threw my cheesehead across the room and declared it dead to me. (we made up in fast fashion)
Last night I was not rooting for the Vikings. It's well known that I have always said I'm a Packers fan before a Favre fan and I was not happy with Favre's "I'm retiring, I'm not retiring" game. That said, I totally know how those fans felt last night seeing their game going down almost exactly as Favre's last game as a Packer did. Was it a stupid pass by Favre yes? Do I admire the guy greatly for getting the s*!t kicked out of him, having to crawl off the field only to get back out there as soon as he could? Yes.
For those wondering, I have no idea if he'll retire or not. We'll be speculating on this all the way up to the regular season next year. As shown by his determination last night I don't think he'd willingly leave the game until injury forced him to, but who knows what's going on in his head.
Regardless, when he does come back to Lambeau to retire his number I'm pretty sure everyone in the city will welcome him with open arms.
Today's photo is one of the Vince Lombardi statue in front of Lambeau Field that I re-processed to play with the Silver Efex Pro filter. I'm a fan, but not a big enough fan to spend $200.
