Sunrise at Scotts Run Nature Preserve

Sunrise at Scotts Run Nature Preserve

If you’ve never visited Scott’s Run Nature Preserve it’s right off the beltway on your way to Great Falls National Park on the Virginia side. The hike takes 10/15 mins and drops you right at a cute little waterfall and the Potomac River.
Dragonfly at the Aquatic Gardens

Dragonfly at the Aquatic Gardens

This little gal – I decided her face looked girl-like I could be totally wrong – was the perfect model and stayed on this stick until I was done.
Sunflower Fields

Sunflower Fields

Made an early morning sunrise trip to the McKee-Beshers WIldlife Management Area to finally see the huge sunflower fields. They did not disappoint.
River Abstract

River Abstract

I had the opportunity this weekend to take quite a few photos while back in Wisconsin. I’m sharing them on my flickr account, but this is one of my favorites I took of the Suamico River.
Purple Sunrise

Purple Sunrise

Going to see the cherry blossoms a lot this year. Yesterday, I did my now yearly sunrise photoshoot. The actual sunrise didn’t give much but the twilight around 6:15 was this beautiful purple hue.
Super Moon

Super Moon

Last night the moon was what NASA calls a super moon because it’s at it’s closest point to Earth. This happens only once every 18 years. I debated about where in DC to go for this event. Ended up at the Tidal Basin to enjoy the scene before tourists descend...
More California

More California

I’ve put up a bunch more pictures from California on my Flickr page. Below are a few shots too that are my favorite. This sea lion came up on our beach the second night to say hi.

Sheriff Woody

In honor of Toy Story 3 coming out today I’m posting a picture I took of Woody at Magic Kingdom. PS: That’s the Harbath/Mueller family in those smashing red t-shirts on the other side. I got stuck on the other side of the street taking photos when the parade started.

Cinderella’s Castle

I have a nighttime shot coming from this angle too at the Magic Kingdom. This is from one of those handy Kodak Photo Spot signs that Disney has throughout its parks. They’re very handy when you want to get that obligatory postcard shot.

Epcot at Sunset

This is an HDR image from Japan in Epcot across the lagoon with Spaceship Earth in the background. Thunderstorms rolling through Florida that day made for some amazing clouds this day. Nothing against my family, but I wish I had had more time to spend taking HDR shots and not trying to keep up with...

Squawk: I’m Upside Down

Outside of the Rain Forest Cafe they had three or four parrots hanging out for folks to look at. Awesome opportunity to get some up close shots.

Watch Out, He Bites

We didn’t eat at the new T-Rex restaurant at Downtown Disney this time around, but next time I’m sure we’ll give it a try. It looked really cool. This friendly chap was standing guard outside.

Giraffe

One of the things I was most looking forward to at Disney World was the safari ride at Animal Kingdom. They do not make it easy though for photogs. They don’t stop at all and the road is very very bumpy. Still I got a few I like. Lots more to come – I am...

Flamingo Crossing

I really hate it when the Flamingo’s hold up traffic.

Epcot’s Japan

Tickets

Vintage neon tickets sign at the House of Blues in Downtown Disney. After hearing the horror stories of William Beem and Trey Ratcliff I didn’t dare try bringing a tripod there.

Shamu

A killer whale sprays water on the audience during a show at Sea World.

Tree of Life

This is the large Tree of Life in the middle of Animal Kingdom at Disney World.

Jenny’s Boat

I’ve been to Planet Hollywood in Downtown Disney a whole bunch of times, never saw Jenny’s Boat from Forrest Gump parked along the one side near Pleasure Island. I was kind of psyched because not only do I love the movie but I knew it’d make a great photo too.
